Syllables slowly seep into a crevice of a distressed skull, ‘One more time.’ Silent words from a familiar foe. An unwanted echo. Another attempt to twist an unbalanced mind. A point-blank refusal picks a quick retaliation. Point-blank, but pliable. It begins to bend underneath the weight of Weakness. ‘Last time,’ says the familiar voice. Temptation nudges Deceit to give Hesitation a twist. ‘It’s our little secret,’ Deceit says with a devious glint in his eye. ‘No-one needs to know…just you, and me.’ ‘You need it, I mean, you deserve it,’ Justification adds and raises his brow. ‘Think of all you’ve endured.’ Weakness looks up to Justification, ‘where’s Denial?’ he mumbles. ‘He’s tainting Truth, he won’t take long.’ Weakness wilts, ‘but—’ ‘Don’t panic,’ a sly smile creeps across Certainty’s face. ‘Our victim’s been maimed. Secrecies been conspiring with Shame.’ ‘And Blame?’ ‘He rarely resists occasions like this.’
